GARDENA, Los Angeles County — October 25, 2026. Gardena residents have until Saturday, October 31 to submit comments on the city’s draft Open Space Plan and Conservation Plan, part of a larger update to the Community Resources Element of its General Plan. These drafts concern how the city plans for parks, natural resources, environmental quality and climate resilience over the coming decades.
What is open for public review?
The city says the public review period runs October 12–31, 2026. Both draft documents are linked from its official project page. The plans identify issues such as park access, open-space resources, environmental stewardship and long-range strategies. They are draft proposals, not evidence that the City Council has already adopted every recommended policy.
How can residents respond?
Comments may be sent to the Community Development Department, 1700 W. 162nd Street, Gardena, CA 90247, or by email to planning@gardenaca.gov. The city lists (310) 217-9524 for questions. An online community survey and additional public-engagement information are available through the same municipal source. Residents can identify streets, parks or neighborhoods where access, shade, stormwater management, habitat or recreation may need attention.
What happens after October 31?
Gardena’s project timeline includes continued public review and eventual consideration by the Planning and Environmental Quality Commission and City Council. A separate city notice describes a tentative November 3 commission review. That date is not a guarantee of a hearing or approval; anyone planning to attend should check the current agenda and minutes portal.
